Hey all, got a 95 m3 on the way to my house, and looking at mods.. wondering who out there has various intakes or knows which one sounds the best and gives the most power?
im thinking the dinan intake, but the k&n drop in panel filter seems to give damn near the same gains...
I would prefer the K&N drop in panel I have used both on my 95 M3. The Dinan is loud when you are hard on the throttle. If you like the intake noise it does look cool. BMW spent tons of money designing the factory air box is quieter works great but does not look as flashy. Thats my opinions both are great
i havent seen any dyno results, but havent really looked ethier, but i have seen people running the euro m3's oem airbox?? just opening that option also. Like i said, i couldnt tell you if it's any different but i do know that the intake piping is wider then the us intake, so that may give you gains.

Imo you will probably get damn near the same numbers, within 2-5 hp I would think. But the intake will make a lot louder and nicer sound when you get on it.

The Dinan CAI for the E36 M3 does make very nice noises--I had one on my '97 M3. The Racing Dynamics intake also makes very nice noises on the 6-cyl; my cousin has one on his E39 528i/5.
Any true CAI that dips into the lower bumper area is great, although I don't see a problem with doing a CAI in the engine bay as long as a well designed Heat shield is provided.

A horn also needs relocating on a 325 if you got a dinan style intake, who the hell said that lol. To get the most gains from an intake you should get a 3.5" HFM, and some type of software.
