I've been searching BMW sites trying to find a definitive answer to the question of whether or not BMW manufactured a 3dr or hatchback version of the M3 in the '90s and I have not been able to nail the answer down.

Can anyone post a link to a definitive database or to a reference text that would answer this question?

THX

I don't know what you call it over there but we call the 3 series 3 door a "3 series Compact". As far as I am aware there never was a m3 version made but I have heard stories of people over here stripping crash damaged m3's and placing all the parts into a compact.

PS If a search of the internet/bmw sites yields no definitive answer then I guess there wasn't one after all eh?

Don't know if the link

here

will work but it is to a page which depicts the whole 3 series range from 1991 - 1999 inc. all the range changes, inceptions of new models, engine changes and spec changes - there is no mention what so ever of an M3 compact, only saloon, convertable and coupe.

Hope this helps answer your question.
