So Ok, lemme get this straight, CAI do indeed work with BMWs, but to yieald max gains a ECU upgrade is recomended.
Is shark injection is the better choice since it can be uploaded or downloaded as needed, so does this mean i should stay away from the TMS chips for example, i see out there, since they are not so easily removed?
What is this euro HFM i keep hearing about, is it different from the MAF and TB? bare with me guys im coming from the Japanese car crowd here.
Which is better a Eurosport(ES) HFM or the euro OEM one, which is cheaper, is there a certain setup that has to be done or is preffered with each?
Are there TB upgrades for E36 M3s, are they recomended,
im thinking when i do cop my M i should try to get CAI, prolly Gruppe M, or Dinan, hell maybe even AEM. + Euro or ES HFM + 540i TB + Shark injection and exhaust. is that setup even possible?
And what about if i get say... Euro cam or Schrick cams + injector upgrades in the future, is the shark injection something i can get redone or dwnload upgraded software to make it compensate for the cams and injectors?
With exhaust change you will need a chip upgrade to maximize performance. Shark is easy to change back if you are not satisfied. I would hope any cam maker would provide you with new software or at least have a recomendation. you may want to do a package that will satisfiy your needs and has been tested as a complete install of these mods. Dinan may be the answer. They are just so expensive.

exactly the packages are expensive, so stuff like cams and injector and intake manifolds may be last.
so im thinking HFM, eurosport intake maybe TB. but before i can do all of that i need to find out what is what. thanks for the help but you really didnt answer any of my questions, as to what what is and stuff.
and say i get this and an intake what are my options as far as TB go. do i get a 540i TB or do i get an expensive ass Dinan TB.
whne ordering the shark injection can i tell em i have all these things on it and they can program it accordingly to maximise my gains and driveability?

CAI's work much like anyother car, they DO work but the gains are minimal,
shark injectors only work on OBD2 cars where as replacing the chip is an OBD1 function. so depending on what year your car is.....
the HMF , i see you already know what it is... im not sure what year of car you want to modify so i cant really give advice as to what you need. and btw-a 540 has 8clylinders not 6 like the e36 m3 so thats out of the question.
whenever you change something like the intake manifold its best to get the software that is avalible to optimize the power curve.
in the future if you change your cams, some companies have the ability to reprogram your chip or software to accomodate the new modifications. and sometimes they can give you or send you the software needed...im a little lacking on the knowledge for how they distribute the software and or chips to complete the mod, however most of the time the cams are useable for stock settings and dont need another upgrade.
thanks guys. I actually dont have the M3 yet, i paln on getting like a 98 prefferably a 99 later this year, pretty much i want a 3.2 newer than 97.
I did a little home work after i last posted. i think the HFM that i was thinking about is actually a MAF sensor/regular type deal. see the link.. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detai...=E36M3HFMCAMKIT
Now i see where, M3 motorworks sells an intake manifold upgrade, so now i know that they are indeed different.
what i want to be sure of is if i get the basic intake 1st then say an HFM upgrade what should i got for next the TB or the manifold, i know some peopel use 540i TB and some use Euro TB, my question is which is better, is the 540i TB 3.5" too, cause i see that TMS has one and they also sell an adapter where i guess that stock parts can still be used with it.
pretty much i want, im tryin to figure out the order of things that the air flows thru so i can know what to get to open the bottle neck.
Is it intake --> HFM ---> TB --> manifold? and just where does the shark injection fit in all of this, liek can i get all these modds one by one and then do the injection then my AA exhaust, or is there a certian way or order to do these to avoid redoing one, and/or wasting money.
sine you guys took so long to help the noob and the search function isnt very helpfull, im just trying to figure out a plan of attack when i get this bad boy.
BMWL2 im aiming for about 260 - 280 hp. over a period of time since im no millionaire.
Furios thanks a lot for the help, i know the 540i is a 4.4 V8 BTW, the ignorance wasnt about the car, it was about the part.
Don't be too hard Silver....... I'm sure he needed an urgent answer relating to the car he might be getting in 6 months time.
