I am looking into buying a 95 bmw m3 coupe to take place of my 97' 240sx, I was going to mod my 240 with wide fenders, sr20det engine, suspension big brakes and all that to have a bitchin track car, then i started thinking about how much work i have to do to the car just to get it to be more like a true sports car, so much body work, i have to swap the engine the hubs, the wheels, alot of stuff, sure teh car would be fast and kick ass at the end, but is it worth it as much? Im thinking not especially since sr20 is illegal and I live in southen cali. So I look and see bmw m3's selling for good prices and bolt on mods get good power, and the m3 is a bitchin track car which is what i want. So i decideded to put my 240 up for sale and go pick up an m3. I looked around and couldnt find the info i wanted so could some nice people just help me out on what to look for when buying an E36 M3. I am going to use the car for lots of track events so its going to be the 2 door 5 speed I just want to know if there are any hidden features I need to watch out for when buying one to make sure I get the best model for that year, please any help is appriciated.
I just test drove the M3, this car is nice, very nice paint and interior, it has the bmw motorsports wheels with slotted brakes and suspension with intake and exhaust. The car is very quick and handles sooo nice, very fast, it will make a great track car. I am going to take it to bmw dealer to inspect it before i buy, is there anyone in san diego that will come with me to see the car, I want to be sure I am wise on the choice. Thanks
MY Brother has spent a few years and a lot of cash tuning his 1.8 turbo 200sx
It currently does 0-62 in 4.6 secs - top speed approx. 175. not bad for a 1.8l engine huh?
(And yes I know that means I have a RICER for a brother, hopefully he'll convert one day - perhaps not though he's after a skyline)

Are you a vet dude, when were you there, i was there, but i drove my Skyline back home in Ja.
Dude be warned. BMWs are as reliable or are they low maintenance like Toyotas and Nissans and Hondas. but they give much bigger smiles and command more respect. and you'll love em more too.
No i dot own one, but im contemplating a E36 M3 too, and im doing my homework. so i forsee potential problems that may make me bust a blood vessel. but i KNOW its worth it.
