Hey guys. I'm new here and have been looking for an M3 for a while now. Read a bunch of posts here - what a great site.

I finally found an M3 that I LOVE but not sure quite what to think of the shiesty salesman. Here the scoop:

Alpine White '97 M3, Body is Perfect, Intereior flawless, Sounds, looks, drives great.
77K Miles, short shifter (not sure what kind) upgraded exhaust (dinan) and carbon fiber CA (dinan), with chip (again not sure what kind).

The salesman claims that it has the "luxus" package which includes wood grain, on board computer (don't they all have this) cruise control, and a few other things that i could care less about - is this a load of sh*t? Seems sort of strange. He claims that this is why he will not come down from his asking price.

He wants 20K plus 2K for the 46K mile waranty. The warantee does seem to cover about everything though.

I drove this car and have a raging hard on for this thing!! Holy sh*t, now I get it, what a great automibile. I have never had it this bad for a car in my life but I'm trying to keep my wits about me and not be taken for a fool by this guy. What to do? Thanks for your help and I look forward to hanging out here once i get the new ride - whether it is this one or another one. Later.

First things first. It sounds like a mis-spelling. It should be luxury package which does include those things. Its certainly nicer with those but it adds a lot of weight, taking away from the performance. I recently had an M3 without the luxury package, I was going for performance not luxury. What do you want?

Mine also included the computer but no, I don't think they all have it.

Also, that price is way to much, you should be able to find something like that for around 15k, look for one that already has the warranty.

the pirce isn't too much considering it's coming from a dealer, the luxury package includes wood grain heated seaets, that sort of thing, they don't all have those features included in that package, you should tell him to give it to you for 18k with the warranty, that would be a good price

I would probably say 19-20k.. which for the mileage.. and add ons.. and package... If it runs good and still kicks ass.. then that would be a good price to me.... maybe a little extra for a warranty... what kind of warranty?

I decided against it anyway. Took it to my BMW mechanic and we discoverd that the entire front end had been replaced - that in itself is not a horrible thing, BUT when the dealer tells you that it was a "local trade in by a repeat customer" and you come to find out that it has been wrecked all to hell, thrown back together and actually came from the auction - it makes you wonder about the intergrity of the dealership (or salesperson). As for "Luxux" pkg - I guess he was trying to say "Luxury" he was not from around here - he's from some where in Europe.
Thanks for the replies.
