BMW M1 30th Anniversary race
Following out retrospective piece last week on the BMW M1, we can bring some images of the Anniversary races which were held at the German Grand Prix this weekend.

Niki Lauda won race one, after starting on the front row, along side ex-BMWMotorsport Boss, 72 year old Jochen Neerpasch in the Andy Warhol painted 'Art Car'.

The small field were made up of owners, original drivers and BMW test driver Christian Klein, who drove the BASF liveried car.

Ex F1 driver, and now German TV commentator Christian Danner drove the car that was raced by the late Clay Reggazoni. This car, along with Lauda wore BMW Motorsport colours.

As this was a one-off special race, all the M1's had passenger seats which were filled by lucky 'co-drivers'. As you can see in the image below all the co-driver did was enjoy the experience..... and capture the event on video!!

Another co-driver who decided to take photos!!
The Antar (French fuel company) had a great livery using a Map graphic. Decades before Honda came up with the same concept in Formula 1. The Antar design is more effective too!

The BMW Art Car in the Stadium section at Hockenheimring. Painted by Andy Warhol, this car competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours

Two 'GS Sport' Team cars competed. The BASF car and the Denim Aftershave version shown above. Both had great effective liveries.

"The Rat" aka, Niki Lauda. 1975, 1977 and 1984 Formula 1 World Champion.
Unfortunately, BMW have not released full results, but these photos from BMW capture the event.
