I live in South Florida and own a 1998 e36 M#. My A/C works it just doesn't blow very hard. I have to have all the vents closed except the middle one to feel just a touch of A/C. It's getting to be real hot down here. anyone know of any fixes. Please, I have to drive to work in shorts and change once I get there. I'm begining to FRY
Have you checked your fan motor? It could have a dry bearing and that would slow down the speed. Or it may just have failed. I have seen it happen before, not on a bimmer, but a 97 Audi.
It is not the fan. The mechanic told me that this is just how the A/C is on a '98 M3. I have had this car for 5 years now and I believe it is getting worse. No one will listen to me. It can't be a problem ALL '98 M3's have or nobody would own these.
My E36 M3 had great a/c...I had a '97. I refuse to believe there were substantial changes to the climate system between those years. Try a recharge of the system yet?
I had the exact same thing in my 98 M3. I didn't have a good heater or ac. I changed out the thermostat and didn't notice any changes but when I replaced the cabin air filter EVERYTHING got better. It was such a nuts change, the filter was bitch black and covered in crap. A 20 dollar filter and everything was better
My A/C is ice cold. Where and how do I change this Cabin Air Filter anyways? A write up maybe anywhere?
I did mine a little bit ago and it made a huge difference in the force of air coming out. I assume it is located in the same spot for all e36's. It's easiest if you lay on the passenger side floorboard. It is located behind the center console close to the floor. I don't think you need any tools just have to unclip the snaps that hold it in and then pray and carefully pull that bitch out.
