E46 M3 Connecting Rod Service Action

Well, I took my car to the dealership for the connecting rod replacement service action and just found out that BMW authorized them to replace my motor. Turns out that a couple of the bearings had severe etching which was the basis for authorizing a complete motor swap.

Now I'm at a loss....on one hand I'm happy to get a new motor, even though I only had 8000 miles on the car. On the other hand, now I'm worried as to how this motor swap will affect the value of the car.

Anyone have any stories of their bearing replacement?

I would not worry about it. My wife's Lexus got a new motor at 60k miles (out of warranty) because it "sludged up", despite routine maintenance. Lexus knew they had a bad motor and paid for everything. We sold the car at 80k miles. The buyer liked the fact that the single most important component of the car was newer than the chasis and that the dealer was standing behind their product.
