difference between 99-00 and 01 m coupe

i was wondering where bmw got the extra 75hp on the 2001 M coupe from the 99, 00 models.

was it tuning, intake, exhaust?

If anyone knows this please help

i'm looking to get one nad was wondering if i can get the power the 01's have with a 99 or 00 models.

Switched over from the E36 M3 engine to the E46 M3 engine.

the earlir s52 engine used in the E36 form 1996-1999

S54 was used in the E46 M3. The S54, from what i gather was a completely new engine. same 3.2liter as the S52 though.

so you don't know what they exactly changed to the engine to get the extra power?
thats what i'm looking for here is what they changed to make the power.

Changed intake, exhaust, headers, pistons, cams, rods, crank, head, valves, springs...practically everything.

its a completely different engine, thats what changed lol, they even moved over to solid lifters just for those extra few RPMS/HP...almost nothing is shared from S52 to S54

One thing that must be pointed out is that the engine used on the US-spec E36 M3 and M coupe was an S52US, which was more similar to the M52 on the 328 and 323 vehicles than it was to the engine used on the European M3, which produced 320 hp.
