Skipjacks is an unknown quantity at this point
Allright...I've had my e36 M3 for all of 1600 miles now. I've had the check engine light shut off twice already for stupid problems. Now it's on again for a third time. Is there anything in the car that WON'T turn that light on?

This time the check engine light came on the same time that the silly inspection bars went blank. Could they be related? I mean the inspection light went completely black. You wouldn't even know it's there. But the light for it is not burned out cause it turns on when you start the car.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Is it a bad idea to just take the check engine light bulb out? I mean it's pretty much the boy who cried wofl at this point.

Secondly....the light bulb behind the gas gauge suddenly went out at teh same time the rest of this nonsense started. I can only assume they aren't related in any way. But how do I get behind the gauges to replace that light? I can only find one screw on the dashboard and I don't want to mess with it til I know what I'm doing.

Sounds like you have some old wires.. or worn wires behind the dash.. I'd take that sucker out.. there are two screws right infront of the plastic cover infront of the dials... you can see most of them... and it just slids out... shouldnt be too hard.. I've done it twice... just check all the of the connections behind there...
