XM in my M3 - BMW Forum

I just bought a 2004 GMC Denali Pics of the Denali , its nothing like the M3 but it is amazing how it handles for a big truck and the turing radius is amazing. Well anyways the Denali has the XM satillite radio. I fell in love and would love to get it in my m3. I went to the BMW dealership and they said that they only have sirus (have an agreement with them) and it would be $1000 for the installation and a couple hundred a month for service. What should I do? Can I get the XM in the M3 without additional head units?

PS I have a stock stereo not the GPS

In order to get the XM, you won't have to replace your existing head unit but you do have to add a receiver and a RF Modulator. The "Delphi XM Skyfi" Radio and the "Delphi RF Modulator" would run you to about $300 bucks including instalation at Best Buys.

I am trying to avoid having to put more accessories in my car. Can't I use the stock stereo?

No, the stock stereo does not work. None of bmw radios come fully compatible with the XM tuner module needed to receive the XM Radio service. XM radios are compatitable to some of the radios in General Motors Corporation, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Toyota, Audi, and Nissan North America.
