Question

Today i saw 2 M5's that completely changed my opinion that i would never like 4 doors. The first one was on the way to school i pulled onto the interstate right behind a silver M5 with shaved emblems and handles all around and lowered about 1.5"in with a really nice sounding aftermarket exhaust. He took off down the interstate and i backed off at about 120mph because i was in my dads car and that guy just took off like a rocket. The second was when i went to the body shop to check on my 325is and when i was there they were workign on a Deep Red M5 installing a BAVAUTO exhaust on it and had just finished putting on some Bilstein Coilovers. The owner showed me under the hood where he has a Carbon fiber cold air intake and carbon valve cover. I have completely changed my view of them especially with the power they put out and after hearing the owner start up the Red M5 with its tight new exhaust and 19x10 wheels with super wide tires. And just to show off a little after i was looking at it he peeled rubber out of the parking lot and took off like a gun shot down the road. Once again, WOW!. Best 4 door ever in my opinion. Oh and neither were the new 5 series design with the weird headlights but both were like 2003/4 models. Anyway anyone else who wasnts to say what they think of M5's feel free to start a discussion.

Always thought the E39 M5 were too heavy for autocross events but after seeing two of them run at a CCA event in March, I've since changed my mind. They're still heavy but the hp to weight ratio on those things are just amazing. It was incredible how the drivers of the M5s were able to power through the turns and the exhaust (even in stock form) was intoxicating. Nothing beats the rumble of the 8 cylinder car.

I think the reason he had all emblems ( except the roundels) and door handles shaved was not just to give it that smooth look but if cant tell its an M5 from the look and the sound then you dont deserve to be called a BMW enthusiast. just my 2c and it looked awesome too.

Welcome in heaven.... It is really cool from your dad buying that car. Take a look at 'Gumball Mischief 3000'. A silver/grey M5 is in there!
