Grant it that the M series vehicles are fucking hot!
How smart is it to get a used M5 over a new 530i?
You have to take into account that the most owners who drive their M3 or M5 will drive their vehicles like crazy. The M engines are bored out and are designed for higher rpm condition. Still....
I just want to get your guys idea on how reliable are your 50k mileage M5 or M3?
Personally I don't think I would get a used M...because as you have said, M drivers have DRIVEN their cars...yes they are designed to handle a certain amount of beating, but who is to say that it hasn't been "abused" or "misused"
50k mile m's are perfectly fine, ask les, his has 160k miles and is still running good, but he does take care of it really well, if you take care of it, it will last no problem, i would get a used m5 if you can just because m5's are awesome, and if i ever could choose between an m3 or m5, i'd go m5
depends if you want the more room (m5) or the sportier M3. IMO i would get the m3 because i like the body style more and im not a big fan of 4 doors yet. with respect to the m5 its still a hell of a car im not trashing it or anything
I tend to think more M3's are being raced as suppose to M5's.
Hopefully I can find a person who haven't abused their M5's and drove only commuter miles.
But I was saying that a used M5 w/ under 50k miles is about the same price as a new 530i. And for some reason the used M3 are only a few thousands less than a M5. Guess when the new 3 series comes out next year...that price should drop. Same with the new M5.
If you take care of your engine your engine will take care of you.
Buying a M series car is the same as buying any other car. The engines are nearly bullet proof. The majority of the people that drive M's know how to drive a car and are usually mechanically inclined. Take it to get it checked out by a mechanic and see what they say. Dont be afraid to purchased used M's.
M5 = You go up in wieght class and to a V8
M3 = you stay lightwieght and Beefy V6

dude i was driving on saterday and i saw an asian dude and his family, in a byzanz 4 door m3, i gave him the thumbs up and he did the same i was like holy shit byzanz, lol
Dude in my area all I see is asian guys in M3's driving like pussies. They probably tap into 10% of the actual potential of a M3. Therefore look for asian guy when buying a M3.

funny, I got my car from an asian guy. Although the engine really wasn't abused, he really didnt do a good job of maintaining it.
