Coupe indeed. It's faster, and I harder to steal from. Plus it's lighter - which means not only is it faster (I know, redundant) but it will marginally handle better. And marginally get better mileage.
Oh, and ... for the sake of being redundantly redundant, they're harder to steal from.
Wow...seems like everyonebelieves the coupe is the better choice. I don't understand. My close friend's M3 was a convertible. He even lives in NYC. He says he loves his convertible so much. He did, however, mention to me the coupe is faster. Maybe I will go with the coupe, but I am in sunny Florida. I really don't know. If you think the coupe is that much of a better choice, then I guess I will go with it.
Convertibles add weight, lose chassis rigidity, and the cloth top ruins the lines of the car (in my opinion). A coupe has none of those problems. You can order a sunroof if you like, but I think the coupe is the better choice. plus, 3 series convertibles will always be "chick cars", and unfortunately the M3 will get grouped in along with every other 325CiC when it comes to that.

I think you are right. The M3 Coupe is cheaper too. I will probably not make up my mind until I have to, meaning until I am actually buying the car. I haven't hear those types of problems before that the convertible causes. I wonder what the dealers think.
I had the same agonizing problem. Many sleepless nights, etc.
I love driving my red "chick magnet car" E-30 325i all winter with the top down and the heater on (it never rains in San Diego county, except this year).
Anyway I could never decide. So I kept my E30 and got an M5. It's red, does that make it a chick car?
Convertibles rock, sure the coupe is faster but not that much. The wind doesn't blow through your hair with a sunroof. As far as a convertible being a chick car-- sure, it attracts tons of them. Jaws drop just like the top!!!!!!!!!!! I will never own anything but a convertible BMW.
