So I am going to be getting suspension this week and wanted some recommendations. I was thinking of getting eibach springs w/ koni struts. What do you all think of that setup.

I am also thinking of getting the X-brace and strut bars to go with it. Now is there any other parts/pieces I should replace or get while I'm at it.

PS, I am not getting sway bars at this time, stock sways will be good for now.

If youre interested in Bilstein, KYB or Eibach I can getcha a deal through my company. I hate to see one of my fellow Bimmer drivers paying too much for parts.

my friend has a track e36 m3 and he has tried almost all kinds of suspension.
he tried H&R spring, eibach, and H&R coilover. He is using bilstein springs and shocks right now. He told me that he didn't like coilover cuz when his m3 was using the coilover, the car's handling didnt feel like a M3 anymore.

The main advantage of coils (and why I reccommend them) is that you have full ride height adjustability, you don't get that with just springs or non-adjustable shocks. If you don't know anyone who can help you tune your suspension setup, then coils are useless.

Honestly, i was talking to a friend of mine, and hes a suspension guru, he says that the bilsteins are valved perfectly from the factory and he would go with those. I have koni's on my other cars but.. from his experience, was that some konis experienced some weird valving issues. If you wanted to adjust compression then some how the valving would throw out the rebound. He found out by using them on some kind of suspension tester. It only happened on very minor cases.
I also keep in contact with a editor that works with grassroots motor sports and he is going to konis and ground controls for his E36 M.
I'm going to purchase bilstein sports and I'm going to find out what spring rate for the ground controls, or i might try H&R's progressive rate springs. I heard nothing but praises for bilsteins. I don't think coil overs are necessary , i still think with the proper spring rate/ shock combo and supporting reinforcement stuff for the suspension i think it will be more than enough to really wake the the car, oh and also tires are very important also. I'm not a suspension guru but i do know a couple of things, so my views might be different to others. So an X brace would be the first thing i would purchase, and its very very cheap for very noticeable gains.

We tracked the car a few weeks ago and hes helping me find some spring rates for my purpose and we are going to corner balance the car. We are doing small things at a time, no sway bars yet until we really need , but the car feels very neutral, except when the tires get hot and gummy and i start under steering.

Good luck with whatever you buy and let us know how it comes out.

I've got Eibach springs and sways, with Koni adjustable yellows underneath. Compared to my stock setup, it was absolutely amazing. All of a sudden I always run on rails. With my lighter wheels, it makes the ride pretty harsh, but that's how I like it.
