i recently came across a 1988 m3 for sale and was considering buying it, it is a pretty clean car except for the front bumper, it has a pretty good crack in it, the current owner hit a curb while parking it he said.it has 140,000 miles on it and he is selling it for $10,000cdn. good buy or wait for another one ? thanks.
I paid 21 grand for a 98 M3 back in 2004, but it had an aftermarket warranty, 61,000 miles and was in almost tip top shape. The bumpers aren't too espensive, bavauto.com sells all the parts you would need, a few hundred then a paint shop to have it painted. It may be a fair price but make sure you get a compression check on it and have a third party take a look at the car for you. Other than that it seems to me to be an incredible deal!

well 88's are a diff value, the average price is about 13k USD. if you buy anything under 13k you will spend that much money spending to get it to tip top shape, so for example, you buy it for lik 10k USD, you will honestly spend 3 more grand on it. i call it the e30 m3 buyer rule, which is 13k.

thanks for the tips, i am going to have it compression tested, i can do that myself (if someone would be kind enough to tell me what they usually have). and about that 13K rule, a new bumper, paint , i'm thinkin' thats 3g's right there, i want to keep everything bmw, no replicas, i want original and i'm not going to cheap out
