Hey everyone I am a 17.m and I was wondering wich car I should get between an E36 and E46 M3. I have tons of driving experience from racing mini drag cars to shifter carts. So if you all don't mind helping me choose please leave me your opions. Thanks
Money is not a problem for the car but for upgrades it going to cut the total I have to spend but I am looking mostly into custom interior and exterior for show and maybe a few simple motor mods like cold air intake ect..
The first E36 M3 had a 3.0 litre straight six (S50 engine)...later on BMW revised the engine (in 96) to a 3.2 (S52 engine) and renamed it "Evolution"-this much better than the 3.0 mainly beacuse:
1. Power was shifted from 286 bhp to 321bhp.
2. 6 Speed tranny introduced.
This was the Euro model and to my knowledge North America only had the 240 bhp(S50 engine). Not sure if the US model was ever facelifted!
If u wanna buy a E36 M3 aim to get the Evolution Model!

omg i hate u, lol, if you want to be showy, and have few motor mods, get the e46, if you want to build an all out race car, get the e36
Did you say that because the E46 M3 is more expensive to mod?
I'm pretty sure that's why you said it because the E46 is much more better than the E36 with more power and better handling.
Thanks.

All that I've read says that the e46 is heavy, and understeers at the autoX courses. On the other side, the e36 has the softer ride from what I've read (compared to the e30) and isn't as fast as the e46. I believe grassroots motorsport said the e36 was the choice if you're going all out. Again, if you don't want to mod much, the e46 is the best stock m3.

They said that because the E46 M3 costs more to upgrade.
