MP3 Aux adaptor and IPOD

Hi, searched the forum for info on this but did not find anything (kept getting errors)........was wondering if anyone has hooked up an MP3 player using the BMW factory adaptor that goes from the stereo aux out to a 1/8" inch adaptor and if it worked well. I would like to hook up my IRIVER IHP-120 to it.


Was also wondering if anyone had reviews of the IPOD setup......was specifically wondering if track information (song,artist) shows on the BMW stereo display like it does on the IPOD text screen.


Thanks for your response in advance, if this has been previously addressed in other posts sorry for the duplication and would appreciate any thread addresses.

LAME! I just dropped off my car at the dealership, and it's incompatible with my car because I have a navigation system. I wrote to BMW corporate and am awaiting a response. They told me that I can still connect it as an auxiliary input, but can't control it through the stereo. Not worth it, so I nixed the job.

I've been looking for the same type of solution. Short of setting up a computer hookup through the AUX input (i.e. onboard computer), there's no way of doing this for E46M3 with Nav. Even with the Crutchfield solution. Guess we'll just have to wait AlpineWhiteE46.

If anyone has a better solution, please let us know.
There are several threads about this in different areas of the forum, but no good solution for folks with NAV.

Hey, frw73, you should write to BMW corporate as well. I haven't heard anything from them (I submitted an email about 2 days ago), but it's worth a shot to be heard. There's an email submission form on the corp site in the Contact Us section.

The service consultant told me that he's guessing the logic behind not making it compatible for nav systems is that people who don't have toys in their cars want the new toys that they can afford. Sounds like a lame attempt to justify, "Uhh...we didn't consider all aspects when we released the damn thing." Whatever...we should just keep poking them to get the nav version out ASAP!
