EVERYONE, I NEED SOME ADVICE. IM INTERESTED IN PURCHASING AN M5 AND FOUND THIS SELLER. WE'VE AGREED ON A PRICE, AND TO MAKE A LONG STORY, I DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CAR UNTIL IT ARRIVES HERE (THE CAR IS IN GERMANY FROM WHAT MY BROTHER SAYS AND WE ARE IN CHICAGO). MY BROTHER HAS SET UP AN E-GOLD ACCOUNT (LIKE PAY PAL) WHICH HE IS TRANSFERRING 40% OF THE AMOUNT OF THE CAR AS A GESTURE THAT THE FUNDS WILL BE AVAILABLE WHEN THE CAR IS SHIPPED. NO MONEY HAS TO BE TRANSFERRED UNTIL THE CAR ARRIVES. WE'VE CHECKED OUT THE VIN AND CAR INFORMATION WITH BMW, AND EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT CLEAN. HERE'S WHERE IT IS INTERESTING...THE CAR IS FOR 19000 (US) AND THE SHIPPING WILL BE DONT AT NO COST TO US FOR A 2000 M5. IIM PRETTY SKEPTICAL AS IS MY BROTHER BUT PLACING THE MONEY IN AN E-GOLD ACCOUNT IS PRETTY SAFE. HE IS NOT GOING TO TRANSFER ANYTHING UNTIL THE CAR GETS HERE. SIMPLY, DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD EVEN BOTHER OR JUST LET IT GO? MY CONCERNS ARE THAT THE USER DOESNT GIVE MY BROTHER A PHONE NUMBER (SAYING HIS PHONE IS STILL BEING SET UP) AND WONT GIVE OUT TOO MUCH PERSONAL INFORMATION BECAUSE HE SAYS HE DOESNT WANT SOMEONE TO WASTE HIS TIME. HE SAYS THO THAT ONCE MY BROTHERS E-GOLD ACCOUNT HAS BEEN FUNDED, HE WILL CALL AND GIVE A TRACKING NUMBER FOR THE LUFTHANSA SHIPMENT. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEAL TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. READ SOME OF THE EMAILS BEFORE:

***If this link doesnt come up, go to autotrader.com, using any zip code, search for a used M5 ranging from 2000 to 2001 from $0 to $20000 and Any Distance...

EMAIL ONE
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your interest.
I am in located in Munich, Germany, i had to move here with my family.I brought the car here with the intention of driving it but i didn't realize how much it will cost me to register it ( paying the German import duties ) and besides that the car would have to be modified in order to meet the European emissions standards.

Fortunately the car is still registered in the USA and i am trying to find an US client, i can assure free air delivery by Lufthansa (German air transporter ) to whatever airport in the USA the client requires.
I am in a very messy situation here, because i want to sell it to the USA, i realize that i should be a fool to ask for someone to pay me in advance, this is why i require payment after delivery, but i have a small issue, if i receive my payment from a US source i would have to pay income taxes here, this is what i want to avoid, so this is how i want my payment :

I found out about an on line payment system named e-gold ( www.e-gold.com ) so the buyer must sign up for an e-gold account and fund it with the necessary amount. When i receive confirmation from e-gold that the buyer has the amount in his personal account i will ship the car. This is the best way i could find for a buyer to feel good about this kind of transaction and also it will confirm me that my buyer has the funds available.
I know that this sounds a bit complicated and it is a bit complicated but this is also a very cheap occasion.

My price is negotiable, i would like to know if you are willing to buy under these circumstances and also let me know what your best offer is.
Kind regards.

-------------------------------------------------------------
EMAIL TWO-MY BROTHER ASKING FOR VIN INFO
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dear sir,
I did not feel offended , but i have to admit that there are lots of time wasters contacting me and i really do not have the patience to sort them out.
The VIN number of the vehicle is : WBSDE9348YBZ97280.
The mileage is expressed in Miles, i am sorry but the pics that were posted on Auto Trader are the only ones i have, they were taken by my son when we were back in the USA and i don;t know why the resolution is so bad.
I am willing to discuss this by phone, but only once we agree on the price and the terms of payment.
I can ship the vehicle to the airport you require.

Kind Regards

Ferek Morel.

-----------------------------------------------------------
EMAIL 3 - ASKING FOR MORE INFO
-----------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

The car has been bought with financing and when the financing was ended i purchased the car.
The car has all maintenance inspections on time,. Shipping will be done by Lufthansa , this is the german airline company and it will take 5 business days.
About the payment, i am sorry but e-gold is the only way I will accept it, like i already said you will pay me after the car is in your hands.
About the title transfer, i will send you the title along with the car and I will endorse it over to you.

If you want to buy you should proceed by opening an e-gold acc and funding it. There maybe a problem, i am looking for a person who doesn;t need financing , most fiancial institutions will ask for the car's papers to be offered to them prior to releasing the loan, if this is the case i suggest you to apply for a personal loan, or let me know how much you can gather and depsoit in e-gold prior to the car being sent in the USA.

Please let me know.

Ferek Morel.

Here's the deal...my brother opens an account via e-gold.com, through a broker, and deposits the money into his account only. My brother is then going to forward an email from the broker to the person selling the car. After doing so, the seller is supposed to be sending the car via Lufthansa at his own expense to arrive to Chicago in 5 business days. After the car is sent and the title is signed over to my brother, ensuring that everything checks out, he is then supposed to deposit the rest of the amount in the e-gold.com account and send the total amount to the seller.
What we are worried about security, but we have spoken to e-gold.com and to brokers, and everything is set in order. We have read some articles online about people getting scammed on cars that appear to be to good to be true, but everything appears to check out. We figure its worth the shot, and we have nothing to lose. If anyone knows of some horror stories about similar situations, or the opposite and has been dealt with similar proceedings in a good way, speak now or forever hold your peace....

Lufthansa is an airline company right? I can't even imagine how much it would cost to ship something as heavy as a car by plane. There's hardly ever a deal that sounds too good to be true.

I contacted an individual with a M5 whom also stated something like the message I saw in the post above, only the seller was opening a restuarant and needed the money. Therefore he was willing to sell the M5 for $20k. When I told him, once the car was in the country, we can discuss further the seller suddenly dropped the price to $12k. I didn't respond after that.

It's a fucking scam straight up, You're gonna loose a lot of money if you send him some 'nice gesture' of money

Dony beleive me? Well i'd be happy to epxlain the 18g's that was lost... the SAME EXACT FUCKING WAY.

By the way, e-gold.com... you seriously think that's real? That is a lame site man. The whole point is for you to give e-gold money, that's the trick.

Don't go with that vague individual........ Why he can't take some new pics in Germany of that car (including the VIN-number), I guess it's a confidence man! Also, that cars are a lot more worth than $19K. I've checked the actual price by KBB which says the following:
(I'd filled in a fictive ZIP postal, because I didn't knew the Chicago ZIP)

Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history is assumed. This is an exceptional vehicle.

Private Party Value $46,700
Private Party value represents what you might expect to pay for a used car when purchasing from a private party. It may also represent the value you might expect to receive when selling your own used car to another private party.

My advise, don't buy that car, you're gonna loose a lot of money!
BTW when selling that kind of car, I surely had taken some nice pics of that car! Ask him for pics from that car IN Germany. I don't believe that car is there!

I APPRECIATE EVERYONE LOOKING OUT FOR MY BEST INTERESTS...IT WAS GREATLY APPRECIATED...IT STILL LEAVES ME LOOKING FOR EITHER AN M5(2000 or 2001) OR AN M3 (2001)

He realized you weren't going to buy it and said he was selling it to someone local as a cop out or maybe one last effort to ahve you make a deal. Getting a car for less than half of its value? And its not someone that's a relative or a good friend. Something has to be wrong. Good decision on not buying.

As soon as you would have put money into the e-gold account they would have had access to the money and it would have been GONE.(this is my guess)
Shipping for a car by sea is $1k+ what do you think a air flight would be.
BULLSHIT
if it is too good, it is. A good deal would be $5k less than market not 50%
