I have a question about the new E60 M5. I've read that the waiting for the new M5 at dealers can be anywhere from 12-18 months. Also, that dealers are marking prices considerably above MSRP. Are these two statements true?

If so, this leads me to my next question. Currently, I'm overseas in the Mid-East and the a local dealer here has 2 M5's on his lot, a silver and black, not ordered by anyone, fully optioned. If I buy one of these here, how much would shipping be back to the states (Texas). Has anyone shipped a vehicle. Will the US gov't standards require me to change anything in the car since its basically Eurospec'd?

Bottom line, is it even worth buying here and shipping back to states, or just wait in the US for my turn in a waiting list to pop up?

Its probably NOT worth it to ship it as costs may be similar even after the markup, unless you were in Maybe central europe. Plus customs wud tear the car a new one.

A markup? more than likely. Will it be huge? more than likely. I expect about a 3-5 grand markup on it. Is it fair? probably not. Would people stil buy it? Hell yes.

Id say wait til you get to the states.

Dealer is here in Dubai, UAE. I drove by yesterday and the silver one is still there. Didn't see the black one.
