Is the engine recall on the M3 something to be concerned about??? I also heard there are tranny problems with the SMG. These things might cause a problem. If they get screwed up once and they're covered by warranty, i won't mind. But if its a constant problem, I might reconsider getting the M3. I also have the opportunity to get an SL500 coming back from lease at the end of teh summer. Although its not the first thing on my mind, I might change my mind about getting an M3 due to the problems. Anyone know of any problems with the 2004 M3???

Engine problem is old news. The M3 has no higher engine failure rates currently then any other performance engine. Concerning the tranny, my SMG II has worked as advertised with no problems. I only have 3000 miles on it, but as time goes on, and the clutch wears in, it seems to keep getting better. It seems to be shifting even faster, which does not make sense. I figure the clutch must just be hooking up quicker. Clutches do require some break in so that must be it. Man that thing is fast.
