323isnKS is an unknown quantity at this point

I have purchased a used pair of OEM M3 mirrors to put on my 98' 323is. I want to take them apart and prep them for my painter. I have removed the glass and all of the guts. I cannot figure out how to seperate the 2 halves of the mirror. It is obvious that the mounting stock and mirror housing are 2 pieces but there is only one screw on the bottom of the mirror and removing it does nothing. They seem to be real tight and held together by screws but I cant even see them. With the mirror together I cannot prep in between the 2 pieces properly and I think the paint would turn out better if they were painted in apart. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate the tip.
