m coupe questions

I'm having trouble with searches and am looking to get some guidance on an mcoupe.

I have narrowed my search now and due to cost considerations have limited myself to a 99 or 00 M Coupe.

This car will probably be my daily driver and i'd like to take it out ot the track every once in awhile just for weekend warrior events or car control clinics and such and am looking for some opinions (positive or negative) about the M Coupe.

Are there suspension upgrades or engines upgrades that are considered a 'must' for this car or is it repectable right out of the box?

When buying the car (since I'll be buying it used) are there any problem areas I need to be concerned about or pay special attention to?

In short, for those of you have either have an m coupe or have some information on it, i'm all ears....however, i'm not interested in comments like 'do I have an contract with Nike or converse' or 'am i a shoe win'...i've already received enough comments from my wife on how the car looks like an old school basketball shoe and such.

there was a huge Mcoupe buyers guide article in a European Car mag not too long ago, i'll try to dig it up.

but there is no suspension mods that you should worry about doing, especially if its a daily driver, i'm sure that car will handle like a dream with the stock setup.

Hey my next car will likely be a 99-00 M Coupe....

Your best bet to find the perfect M Coupe will be on www.RoadFly.org classifieds... The members there take care of their cars and know what they are doing....

A good friend of mine just sold his 99 M Coupe and i had the pleassure of drivng it and learning about it...

It was black with red interior.... I thnk the best interior color !

he bought the car new but more for aesthetics reason put Koni shocks with H&R springs to lower the car about 1 inch.... He says it improved handling slightly but greatly minimized the stock gap....

He also added a BB Tri-Flo exhaust which in my knowledge is the deepest sound exhaust system for BMWs.... This exhaust really lets the car breath and will help you gain lost horsepower from the robbing stock exhaust which BMW did purposly so that the M Coupe would not have same HP numbers as M3...

He also had a ram air intake which utilized a KN filter and a heatshiel which he says made a huge difference in performance...

The car had 32,000 miles and was sold for 23,500 dollars.... IMO this price was a true steal but my friend needed the money for graduate school.

Great deals like this exist so keep looking.... But don't expect top find anything local cause these are rare cars...

Im guessing you cant go for the '01 becuase of cost reasons? Still the S54 is a nice motor...

I know this is a little late to respond but if you were still having doubts about the m coupe dont! I just recently got a used 99 m coupe and i love it the look is so unique and although I would like it to be faster it is defenatly not a slow car. The only major flaw in the car is that the windows dont roll down all the way they are left a 1/2 inch up I dont know why they made it that way but they did and it doesnt take that long to get used to. Its a badass car go for it
