I looked on Apple's site and it says you need a 2002 or newer BMW to hook up the Ipod....

there has got to be a way to do it to an older one...anyone know how?

There's an Alpine headunit that plugs directly into an iPod. Navigating your large library on a small headunit is cumbersome, but it works. You can buy a 7 inch, flip screen that you can touch and navigate just like your iPod, but that'll run you about a grand for the screen alone.

Check out alpine.com.

Better be nice or i will tell your mom not to let you have your car for a week!

Anyway, I was looking for a way to hook it up to the factory system, not to purchase a $1000 alpine system...though that might be nicer. I saw some that have an illumination feature that allows it to match your car better. Its hard to find an orange head unit anymore.

don't worry about it man, i'm just messing with you, seriously though did you search, if you want to connect it to the factory system, i would recommend a 5 dollar tape adapter, it's the chepaest easiest thing i can think of
