Help! Overhauled '95 Engine On M3 Still Leaking

I need some serious help!!!! ghead
I bought my dream 1995 dakar M3 about a year and a half ago for $12k, 123k miles; well equipped with lots of AC Schnitzer goodies from the 18" wheels to the spoilers, shifter knob, race pedals, H&R suspension, etc. A dream come true after having owned a 318i. Bought the M3 on a whim without thinking much or having it inspected... Have been looking for a yellow 95 for many years in my area (san diego).
Just at the end of last year I took in to fix a head gasket leak which lead to having them machine the head and then it turned out that the short block was warped and needed to be machined... so about $6k later and two oil pans; it is still leaking from the short block (my guess, mechanic keeps blaming the oil pan) and I have just about had it with my mechanic.
So any kind of help would be great...
I am short of sueing the mechanic for making the little problem into a huge headache for me.
I did get a second opinion from another mechanic but it looks like even though they call themselves "bimmer specialist" they do not know M3's.

Your mechanic keeps blamming the oil pan...did he change the gasket?? If there is a bimmer dealer around you might wanna take it in to have it looked at. I did that with my 94 325i and it was only about 55 - 60 bucks to check for oil leaks. turned out there were three leaks, head gasket, oil pan and a valve (dunnu member which one). you might try that.

Thanks, I have not thought about going to a dealer cuz I thought that they would charge me way too much.
I did provide my mechanic with another oil pan from Bavarian Recycling and he was blaming the pan...but two days ago he was telling me that the engine had warped and would not let me see what he was talking about so...
I went and got a third opinion from a recommended mechanic today and they think it is the crankshaft seal by the transmission between the oil pan gasket and transmission.
Thanks again; if he won't do the job then I will take it to the dealer and have him pay the bill.

sounds like the mechanic did not put any sealant in the parts that join the front and rear covers to the block

I have personal never opened up a any bimmer motors, but I have replaced 15 others (V8, inline 6 and such) If it is leaking from the back of the motor, it could be a few things. First and most expensive is the rear main seal. If that is gone, you will have to tear down the whole block and just to pull that out(gasket aroung the crankshaft). If he missed that, it might be the reason why he doesn't want to fix it since it is his fault for not seeing it while he did the rest. The other two would be head gasket leaking, but then you would have white smoke coming out of the tail pipe, or it could be a value cover gasket or the oil pan. No matter what it is sounds like the motor has to come out, sorry. ghead

Do me a favor and call edge motorworks. CALL THEM and talk with them. There awsome there in dublin cali but all they work on are m3's. There currently building a v8 m3. BELIEVE ME they can help you. Go check there site!
