Hey guys hope you can help. I just bought an e36 m3. And when I went to pick it up the guy claims that the idle control valve is sticking so it is idleing weird. It isn't as responsive sometimes when you rev it it will stick open for a bit and then come back down. Car runs great and High Revs. Any other suggestions. And if it is the idle control valve. Any body know the easiest way to tackle that beast. It is sort of in an inconvenient spot under the intake manifold. Anyone know a good way to get in there. Thanks
I pull the icv out.... cleaned it with some alcohol.. my symptoms changed. I started it up for about 3 minutes and it would idle at very low Rpm like it was going to die. a little over 500 then die unless I gave it gas. And it still hesitates to come back down after I rev it.. It sounds like there is a blowoff valve in there that is shooting out air right before it comes back down. Anyone have any of these symptoms that could lend me some advice.?

I have had the same troubles 1 month ago. I cleaned the ICV (see DIY) and it's running smooth now. Any way, I'll get a new one soon since they're only $40 (at least here in the Netherlands).

Try something like 200 bucks here in the good ol U.S of A did your throttle stick at all. Like when you revved the engine did it seem liek the car was letting out a deep breath ? oh yea. When you guys pulled your icv out. was it stuck. Cause mine seems to move freely. even before I took the alcohol and Q-tip to it. Any other suggestions ?
