I would greatly appreciate your input on this. I am just about to buy a 2002 M3 with the SMG. The used car salesperson said the engine and transmission are both covered by BMW to 100k. When I call the dealers they said only the engine is covered to 100k. Because the cost of BMW repairs is high I am looking into buying an extended powertrain warranty but it seems to not be a smart buy since the engine is covered so I will essentially be buying a warranty just for the tranny. Please if someone can clarify the tranny warranty, that would be most helpful. (There is currently a recall campaign on both the engine and tranny when I checked with the dealer, so as soon as I buy it I will have to bring it to them for the service)
On a side note, how reliable is the SMG tranny from the 2002 M3? Thank you all in advance.
