easy way to tell is to pull back the carpeting in the trunk where the nav/cd changer is. u have to pull out the 2 push pins in order to do this. if u do have bluetooth it will be a silver box appx 2x6x4in sitting on top of the nav/cd changer. oh and the passkey stickers will be on it as well. hope this helps
You are going to have option code SA640 Car telephone preparation. This gives you the prewire and all of the buttons, microphone etc. Do you have BMW assist? this is option code SA639. On e46 from 10/2004 on with SA639 then the vehicle has bluetooth. On earlier cars with SA639 you only have assist not bluetooth. Checking for the silver box (telephone module) in the trunk does not tell you if you have bluetooth or not. The car can have BMW assist but no bluetooth and it will still have a phone module. Easiest way to tell is to attempt to pair a phone. With key off and engine off turn the key to position 2 (all light on in the cluster but engine not running) This put the car in to pairing mode for 90 seconds. No tell your phone to search for new devices. if the car has bluetooth i will show up as a device named BMWxxxxx the x's being th elast 5 digits of your VIN #. Like I said though, if you car is an 04 model, its not going to have had bluetooth from the factory.
