E36 M3 Starts then shuts right off.

Need some guidence here

I have a 96 M3 that just does not want to stay started.

The vehicle starts right up with no problem but literaly shuts right off. all within about a second or two.

Im thinking its the Idle Control Valve but im really not sure.. Ill tear into it tonight.

Not much else to explain... Sorry.

Any feedback is helpful

could be your mass air flow sensor, im guessing its that. any other guesses guys?

more ideas to think of is the ICV which you mentioned , or a vacuum leak, i believe that you might be running to rich or to lean. thats a start .

YO! thanks furious... it WAS the idle control valve

Its all fixed and running smooth now.

also, I forgot to mention that it started makin a funny noise.. (kindy metalish sounding) as it started up like 2 days before it wouldnt stay started.

what the hell could make go bad like that?
