Buying Advice..'00 or nwr 3-series v. late '90 M3?

I would like to spend between $23-$30k on either an M3 or 3-series with manual transmission. I have driven a 325Ci and like it a lot, but wonder if I should go for more power. I'm coming from an '85 Porsche 911 - loved it, but need a bit more creature comfort (pwr steering)!!

Any advice/experiences are greatly appreciated!

I wanted an older M3 but couldn't afford the insurance.

Take an E36 M3 for a test and see what you think next to a newer model. Forget the 325, try and test a 330.

They are both quick... obviously one more so than the other but the speed you lose translates into comfort in the form of the E46.

I'd imagine either would seem to offer decent comfort compared to the porker so the power is up to personal preference.

if you want power and handling, def. go for the e36m3.

if you just want to cruise, go for the 325. there is a large differance in performance.
