Buying A 2001 M3

[Street M3]

I have Just received the results of a 166 point RAC inspection on a 2001 M3, that has done 53,000 miles. The results strongly advised that following should be repaired before purchase:

Replace worn engine drive belts
Oil level half way between min and max
Slight Oil evident on RH front lower of engine
Air Conditioning does not work
Battery cover plate securing clips missing
Oil visible on lower rear engine and lower clutch housing. protective tray should be removed and problem repaired.

does anyone know if any of these problems are serious?

The car 19 inch wheels that all need repiar, is this a problem ?

The car also needs two new front, tyres are they expensive ?

I'm feeling particularly excited about buying the car so i'm not sure that i'm thinking with my head. Any help would be very much appriciated.

Hello mate, i'm English too but most of this forum is American or Canadian i've found so they won't of heard of the RAC !

Tyres on an M3 with 19's will be very expensive cos you can't exactly stick budget rubber on a 340 bhp car!

I personally wouldn't buy that car, sounds a right pig.

Low oil levels normally indicate owner neglect and this means the engine won't be in good shape at all.

Stay away from this car, the problems sound to me like a lot of leaks in a lot of bad places. Low oil means that its either neglected or has been slowly leaking into places oil shouldn't be getting. Good performance tires for that car will run you 250-300 Dollars, whats that, 150 pounds, or more. I think the person who owns it either had no idea what they were doing with a high performance car, or beat on it hard and realizes its got some issues and is trying to unload it!
