HI, I am getting really interested in getting an M3 hopefully later this summer. I would like the 01 but theres no freakin way thats happening.. So im looking at the 95-99 range, thinking that a '97 might be my future choice. Are there any differences between the years? Do you have any specs I could look at? Thanks

Hey, the main difference that you should be concerned about is that 96 and abouve have OBD 2...which tends to be a little harder to modify. The 95 has OBD 1, which is a 3.0L, but has the same HP.....there are many more mods available and fun for the OBD1....Good luck

Those are some cool sites.. I really want an M3. Really bad..

Im curios as to what kind of cars some of you current M3 owners have raced and beat/lost to? Is yours stock? Also, how much faster will a 95 M3 be with a turbo?

Also, what are the chances of getting a hold of a Euro M3 here in the states? I am going to EU next summer.. Would it cost too much to bring one over here?

it would cost to mcuh to import one from EU. and with a turbo it could be from 350-600hp mostly

I have a 1998 M3, I would highly recommend that year, it was one that BMW was especially proud of. I have raced a few Mustanf GTs, they lose pretty bad to me, though I am chipped, intake and a few other added extras. A WS6 Firebird and I had some fun, I took him, but I think he had no idea how to shift. My best friend has a 2001 Corvette Z06, he walks all over me in a straight line, but when we get to the back roads, I a lot faster in the corners, yet that is all driver ability. The E36 is an amazing car, and I would highly recommend the supercharger over the turbo, better for the engines lifespan. I plan to install an Active Autowerk Supercharger kit this summer. I will be sure to post a thread telling people how it goes.
Good luck, I would definately go with the 3.2 engine as well, better engine.

You mean the money. The money doesn't appear for you to buy one.

Personally, I'd get an e46 with SMG just because that sounds like WAY TOO MUCH FUN.
Otherwise, if you're into mods, yah, go with the OBDI. Not planning on modding my car (daily driver), so I got an '98 with the knowledge that I was more than likely NOT going to throw that AA SC in there...
of course, that's all probability.

When i bought my car I wasn't planning on any mods, then I got the itch and now its like drugs. I am installing the lightweight flywheel, new clutch, short shift kit and high end transmission mounts today and tomorrow, wish me luck!

That's what I'm afraid of. If I ever do that, I think I'm going to find a way to get that SMG in the car... like I said, too much fun.
