Recently i've been looking into the m5 and honestly haven't been doing so good at it. i was wondering of the minor and major difference in each year if any.

From what I know, there are no body (exterior) difference, maybe clear sidemarkers or backlight, nothing big. From the interior I belive the navgivation was always an option. But I belive they might have updated engine software for one of the years. I say don't buy the first year model go for a '01 or '02.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I think you are 100% correct. There was little, if any, body work done to the car. They did, most likely, update the Navigation which is not a big deal at all. The navigation will still take you to the exact same place. If you have the money, go for the newer models just because they are newer. Don't go crazy, pretty much the exact same car.

I have an 00 M5 and a friend of mine has an 03 M5. I've updated my headlights to DDE and updated my Nav system to DVD Nav.

Now putting these cars side by side, I sure can't find any differences. We both stopped by a dealer and asked them to tell us which was newer and after looking at the cars for a few min they wanted to just lookup the vin's...
