| check all the body panels to make sure it hasn't been in an accident. Run a carfax report. Make sure it has been serviced properly. Take it to a mechanic and have them run a pre purchase inspection. If you are really serious about buying you need to drive more then 15 minutes, take it out by yourself for an hour or longer.
