3.2 Conversion

Anyone have any experience with putting the 3.2 into the E36 and the cost that goes along with that. I'm thinking about finding an E36 //M and completely re-doing it. I know it's a ton of work but I might be willing to do it, I first wanted to know if anyone here had already done it?

If all else fails I'm just gunna get a E39 //M.

dude... all m3's from 1996 to 1999 have the 3.2 liter already in them. I think that some of the 1995's have the old 3 liter engine but im not sure???

So you want the "real" S52B32 correct? Yeah, the euro motor.

First you are going to have to find the engine. I know Bimmerworld has them for like 8,000 I think. They also have the 6-speed transmission as well. I havent experienced one of these swaps, but I am sure it takes a little to get all of the wiring correct. A friend of mine was quoted 11,000 installed from Bimmerworld when he was planning on doing after hydrolocking.

its expensive to do the swap.... if your speaking of the e46 M3 which is 333hp there is lots involved , were talking flyby wire throttles, totally differnt wiring, tranny, driveshafts, etc etc. its a pain in the ass.. but if your refering to the evo 3.2 e36 m3 motor ,, 321hp its pretty much butter, a whole lot easier than the e46 swap.

E36 to E36 swap out. Buy the //M junk or just old and do a complete re-do. About how much are we talking for the engine and tranny installed?

ah fyi the euro 3.2 is 321hp not 333hp..

cost totally depends on where you can source a motor from and where you get it installed, but like said above you could be looking for around 11,000 give or take?

321, point duely noted. 11k sounds about like what I expected. Anymore comments or info would be greatly appreciated.

For the money I would say that its not worth it! But yeah, $11,000 or more is good starting point for the swap! At least that is what I have seen on the various forums.

But, if I had 11,000 just laying around and needed a new engine I would get a built US Spec 3.2 and a Eurosport or AA twin screw supercharger IMO!

Again I understand that FI on a US spec engine would probably do the same or more I just don't want to do FI, end of story.

So your saying you want to spend a ton of extra cash just to say you have a Euro engine and be a few tenths quicker in the 1/4mi?
