Anyone have any experience with putting the 3.2 into the E36 and the cost that goes along with that. I'm thinking about finding an E36 //M and completely re-doing it. I know it's a ton of work but I might be willing to do it, I first wanted to know if anyone here had already done it?
Sorry should have specified. The 333 bhp 3.2 into a stateside //M, along with a 6 speed.
So you want the "real" S52B32 correct? Yeah, the euro motor.
First you are going to have to find the engine. I know Bimmerworld has them for like 8,000 I think. They also have the 6-speed transmission as well. I havent experienced one of these swaps, but I am sure it takes a little to get all of the wiring correct. A friend of mine was quoted 11,000 installed from Bimmerworld when he was planning on doing after hydrolocking.

thats a lot of money considering i got my used convertible e36 m3 for 13400 : ( With that kind of money u could turn that m3 into a beast with the original 240 hp 3.2 just my 2cents
its expensive to do the swap.... if your speaking of the e46 M3 which is 333hp there is lots involved , were talking flyby wire throttles, totally differnt wiring, tranny, driveshafts, etc etc. its a pain in the ass.. but if your refering to the evo 3.2 e36 m3 motor ,, 321hp its pretty much butter, a whole lot easier than the e46 swap.
cost totally depends on where you can source a motor from and where you get it installed, but like said above you could be looking for around 11,000 give or take?
For the money I would say that its not worth it! But yeah, $11,000 or more is good starting point for the swap! At least that is what I have seen on the various forums.
But, if I had 11,000 just laying around and needed a new engine I would get a built US Spec 3.2 and a Eurosport or AA twin screw supercharger IMO!
