2000km Service For A 2004 M3

Guys,

When I bought my new M3 approximately two months ago (a November build) I've asked the dealer to already book room for my 2000 service a month after, I had some planned trip and knew it would be just in time.

I was told this service is no longer necessary, I thought that was weird so I called a few other dealerships including the main one and all of which basically said the same. Now my car is at 3300KM and I'm worried.

Today the engine oil lamp lit on (the lamp on the middle top of the instruments) when turning the car off, according to the manual the car needs some oil added. (I was pushing today an hour before that

How correct this information?

For me all I had was a 1250 mile checkup and my next one is suppoed to be like 12,000 miles.

Well, I'm in Europe, the manual says a 2000KM checkup, oil change and oil filter change. plus my car already wants oil. So I'm planning to buy some tomorrow and add it.

But should I visit the dealer ?

Did you add some engine oil at that time ?

At that mark I believe that matched up close to my 1250 mile checkup. They should change the oil for you. I think you should just take it to the dealer because it is still under warranty. Take it to the dealer. They should change the oil at this checkup. I don't know how it works in Europe though.

A short phone conversation with a BMW tech in Munich, Germany tells me that the 2K service/inspection is no longer necessary with the new models (though I don't know what month build / year they stopped this service).

I'm at 3.3K and today I added 2.5L of the recommended engine oil after a proper mountain drive this weekend, burn baby burn
