Looking at a 97 M3 and it is in excellent condition. All service papers and what not. Thing is it had a cracked head. The guy furnished papers totaling up to $5000 to have a new head professionally replaced. He also did a new clutch. The car has 95K miles in it. The car checks out- no leaks or excessive wear. The major work was done 10K ago. He says every little noise, grumble, or problem was taken to BMW to fix (really does have papers for every little thing). Should I stay away from it, considering the cracked head??? Its a shame, otherwise this thing looks MINT and pulls strong.. what to do?

I agree depending on the price I would get it, but I would have it taken to a shop and have the compression checked. If it got a new head, you should be fine, but you may ask why did the head crack. Did the motor overheat because of a bad impeller in the water pump (known issue) or was he racing the car and took it to 8K. You can put a m3 into 2nd at a 100 mph and blow the motor. If you search the internet you can see pic of people who have done it. I have a 97 with 100k and have no problems and it pulls hard. Research and you find out the truth, just remember to always ask why someone is selling it or why it had to get fixed

12,500..it is a quandry.. how is that price in relation to it having a brand new head and clutch? I just dont want to get a lemon..
