Okay I'm going to get flamed bad but here goes. My current 95 M/// is a good car but I have been having a few issues with it. The ignition failed which resulted in installing a push button start. That problem solved, sort of. Now there is a thumping noise coming from the right rear area (rotor, bearing?). Don't know what it is but it's getting louder by the day used:. Now while this is going on there is this good deal on a 1999 Mustang Cobra. I have always owned and loved bimmers but I know when something goes wrong them it pays to play. It may be a dumbfounded question, but which would you guys choose? My M/// has 107k miles with a rebuilt title. Cobra has clean title/carfax with 50k miles. It's almost a shame to compare the two but what are you guys input on this? Thanks in advance.
b4 selling find the problem....ull regret it later....whevenr my car gets problem i feel like selling too, but it ends up being nothing...check it out...then find how much its gona be...then go from there..
Thanks for clarifying that for me speed and m3uond.Found out that it was a wheel bearing which is a somewhat easy fix. The M/// is an outstanding machine, I must have been high on crack or something to think of trading it for a cobra. Even though it handles well it can't match par with german/motorsport engineering. Theres really no comparison of the two. Thanks.
I wouldn't say there is NO comparison. Mustang are excellent cars for the money. Lots of power and low-end and anything after 1997 has a 'decent' suspension. No where near M3 handling, but IMHO they are still sexy machines. They are also cheap to work on and do performance mods to. But your M3 does not need most of the mods the mustang would. Mustangs just feel like 'big' cars to drive. Gotta love the 4.6 V8 sound though.
My next car will be either an ///M3 or an SN95 cobra or 2005+ GTO. Eurospec E36 ///M3 would top the charts...
Hey, ok some think im crazy, insane or just stupid... but I sold a 2003 10th Anniversary SVT Cobra that dynoed at 409+ hp to the tire, to get my completly stock 97 M3. Im happy!!
The Shelby GT500 is a very sweet ride, the only way I would ever trade my M/// for it would be if it was in mint condition and I was going to keep it as a collector. As a daily driver, I would take my M any day of the week and twice on sundays. Riding around in a GT500 is like screwing a dead hooker, it is fun for the first 15 minutes and after that it just gets boring and smells funny... No thanks.
