you're both correct. in the US, we only got them from 88-91 with the 2.3L 192hp S14's. in europe they started in 87 (or late 86?), and also had 3 evolutions, which in 1991 they got a EvoIII with a 2.5L S14 rated @ 238hp.

more than a e36 m3 in the US. some people believe the cost to buy and initial repair cost will 'always' equaly $15k. if you get the car for 9k it will need 6k in repair, if you get the car for 12k it will need 3k in repair, etc... but from what ive seen, i think you could get a nice m3 in need of little or no work for around 12-13k
