How will 2005 affect the used M3 market? A upcoming redesigned M3 and 4 model years of E46 should depress prices for a used M3 and flood the market no?
go to edmuns.com, kbb.com, consumerreports.com, autobytel.com and get the invoice pricing and work up from there. It mainly depends on the market in your area.
If you're in Orange Country, CA, I'd call Sterling BMW and ask for Dave Williams. He got me a great price on a '04 and did even better for friend whom I introduced.
I personally had a very bad experience w/ CarsDirect.com. The sales rep was a total asshole. I reported him to the appropriate corporate department along with all the emails we exchanged, and they profusely apologized. He told me $1500 over sticker was a great deal and to take it. When I mentioned that Autobytel offered $500 off sticker, he told me that he didn't believe me and to go w/ it. I eventually discussed w/ Autobytel more, but ended up going to a dealership directly, where I got $2K off sticker. It's all a crapshoot it seems at times, but for the most part, if you just keep asking around and be persistent, you'll find the good deals eventually.
Well, one dealer tried to put the screws to me locally after already buying 1 car last year from him. Another tried everything to get me to buy just about. I wound up buying from a high end primarily used store that sells mostly BMW, Mercedes, Jag, etc... because I wanted the carbon black. But just as good a deal existed on a used in another town. New? Different story, dunno.
