Hello everyone Im new here and had a question.I have a 00 M5 with 61000 miles and I love it,anyway this morning I went to start it and it sounds like the starter is just free wheelin.Does this soun d like a starter problem, kinda sounds like aI have no compression like the sound a vehicle makes when a timing belt has jumped a tooth. Thanks for any help, also I have a extended warranty thats very good with 0 deductible.
Well... if your starter is spinning... that means your selenoid that powers the starter is working.
First question towards a diagnosis.... is the engine turning over... barely firing off.... or just turning over.... in other words... is the starter just making noise and nothing is felt being moved by the starter... or is the starter actually moving something.. and turning the engine over.. and it wont "light" off.??????????
Skaw I haved worked for a dealership for 17 years.12 with Toy,3 with Lexus. And 2 with Cadillac.mazda, and pontiac.Ive replaced a lot of starters as a Service Advisor and just replaced brushes in 93 toyota pcik up last week.2,500 pick up.Lol Thanks for help.Ctu
