Turbo M30

Looking at a kit from an old 745i. Jetronic seems to match up well. With 24lb injectors will I have timing issues due to my higher euro compression? It should be about 8lb of boost and my compression is just about 9:1.

I really only have about a day window to decide.

im not sure how fuel flow rates from a larger injector affect timing and compression lol....you sound confused....these are not related

the advantage to higher compression is lower latency...you should be fine, and even with only 8 psi i think 24lb injectors might be on the small side...dunno...

i say doooo it 9:1 with 8 psi sounds ideal IMO

Sorry, I jumbled up a few of the things my mechanic had said when talking about the 745i. Anyway, it's on it's way and I'll have all winter to work on it.

Well, you guys better educate me. I've wanted a turbo for such a long time it's surprising this thing is on it's way. I'm trying to start simple, and hopefully the learning process will be fairly painless.

actually you would be AMAZED how simple turboing a M30 powered 6er is...especially cause you have the benefit of sourcing OE turbo pieces as the eaaaarly 745 was a factory turbod M30

I'll try to clean it up. If it's all metal colored by the time I'm done I'll consider it an accomplishment. There are too many vacuum advance lines running around for this engine bay to ever look pretty.

just clean them and armor-all them and there you go it will look really good
