fuel management, rails, pumps, Injectors, ..if your willing to spend money on standalones then i would compliment them with the above said. And a very good wide band O2 setup. And some sort of boost management, or just run it off the wastegate spring( if allowable)
Depends on the kind of ignition the car uses and the kind of ECU setup its running.
If it uses HFM, or an AFM also affects setup of it.
Required reading:
corky bells book "Maximum Boost" (turbocharging bible)
Generally considered required for acceptable performance:
RRFPR
ignition control w/ spark retard
higher rated fuel injectors
turbo
turbo manifold
custom intake and exhaust ducting
oil drain and feed
heatshielding
relocation of the o2 sensor (put enough down on the downpipe as to not hit tons of turbulence)
oil pressure gauge, boost gauge
wastegate, internal or external
highly recommended:
wide band o2
aftermarket ecu/flash programmed motronic ecu
intercooler
alcohol/methanol/water injection

Good comments. Considering having a turbo in my 99 M3 but debating the thousands that some performance shops want to install it. wondering if doing the labor myself and then taking it somewhere for tunning... (never installed a turbo before but handy in mechanics)
