"Service Engine Soon" light reset

I have a 2001 X5 4.4 and left the gas cap loose for about 20 miles. the next day, the Service Engine SOon light came on. i tightened the gas cap so now how do i reset to get rid of the amber "Service Engine Soon" display?

You can get free code reading at many auto parts stores, While doing that, you should be able to reset the light from the code reader menu.
