Seat belt question - BMW Forum

Hey guys. I have a question about the seat belts. I bought a set of seats from a Juck yard for a project I'm working on. When the removed the seats they let the seat belts retract all the way in. They are now locked there. How do I get the to unlock?

There may be some tension on them. Have you tried pushing them back in a bit to release tension?

The problem is they let them retract all the way in. So they can't move in or out. I wasn't sure if there was some kind of trick to releasing them.

If you can get to the mechanism, the round piece where its retracted in to, take off the side cover, there will be a toothed wheel with a claw on a spring, pull back the claw and release as much as you need release the claw.

P.S. mind you fingers the spring is strong.
