What would have happen?

Late yesterday afternoon I was north of Cincinnati on 71. I noticed there was a Red Benz behind me but did not think much about it. When he passed me "I was going about 80" low and behold it was a new SL 55 AMG. There was heavy rush hour traffic or I would have tried to play a bit. I know the AMG has excellent performance. I was just wondering from say 80 to 130, what would have happened?

493 HP and 516 lb/ft torque

VS

333 Hp and 268 lb/ft torque

Still there is a weight difference. I think SL55 is about 1000lb heavier. Am not sure, but will post exact specs when get home. Anyways, I have test drove the M3 SMG with the annoyign salesman, so I couldn't gun it. But I do drive the CL55AMG from time to time. Courtesy of my Boss . They are identical cars, except the CL55 is a coupe. Yes, it is breath takingly fast. In pure form on tracks the M3 will win, but on the streets and straights, M3 has no prayer for, against SL55.

PS: I also get to drive S600 from time to time. Which is, V12 6.0 Liter TWIN TURBO. 493HP - 593 lb/ft Torque.
It is quite disturbing to drive a 4 doors luxurius sedan which can humilate exotics such as Porsche's, Ferrari's, Vette's, and even few purpose built race cars.

Depends on the speed, who gunned it first, what gear... etc

but horsepower isnt everything

For example: The Subaru WRX STI (4cyl 280hp) could take an e46 M3 (6cyl 333hp) all the way up to 130-40 mph.

And it has that cool cruise control that is radar, so like it slows you down but keeps you 150 ft behind whatever is going slower then the preset speed, so tight.

But for 140k, I better be gettin somethin that is faster then cars under that price.

Scooby's sti has way more torque than M3. Plus, if you keep the engine rev high and the turbo keeps spooling, ofcourse the scooby will pull hard. Other factors, inlcude active differentials and scooby have smaller gearing than the M3. Scooby also have viscous limited-slip vdc and vtd. :P

PS: if you are going to compare keep the factors in the mind. :

Also, if you ever drove an AMG, then you will know. Couple secs of guning it first won't save you from the twisting power of torque.
