heh my friend, who drives an '02 (i believe) Ford Taurus V6, and I, who was driving my mom's 2002 Volvo S40 1.9T, were goin to a restaurant last night, and decided to race a couple of times...nothing official, with roll-ons, or stopping at a green light to wait for it to turn red, it was just in good fun. we did end up pulling next to each other for several lights, and each time, without fail, he got creamed...like, it wasn't even funny... he weighs like 150, i weigh like 140, and my girlfriend (who's like 130) was in my car as well...so i had the slight disadvantage of the weight of another person, and he had the advantage of only one person, and another 20hp.
heh i thought that car would put up at least half a fight, with the V6 and all...I also raced him a couple times while i was driving my dad's '00 Acura 3.2TL, and needless to say he got ruthlessly crushed.
heh goes to show you how much a little, inconspicuous Volvo S40 can do. it's actually not that slow...0-60 in the 7.2-7.4 range, and mid-range acceleration is pretty good.
i would think the taurus would wiegh more and is the volvo manual?

and yeah, i'm sure the taurus weighs more, but not so much that it would get crushed while having 20+ more HP...i think it's just geared relatively high.
one thing that's kinda weird tho, is that my friend and I did some acceleration tests with my dad's 3.2TL, and we were shocked to find out that the thing was getting the same 0-60 and 0-100 times of the 3.2TL Type-S...so we just may have gotten a few unnoticeable mods (we got the car used).

well, i'd think it's pretty accurate, cause my friend timed it with my watch several times, and he also video taped it (with a digital vid cam) and we timed it from there several times, and were were consistantly getting mid-6s for 0-60...i cant remember what the 0-100 times were, but they were very close to what they are for the Type-S

www.s40concepts.net is a good S40 forum if you ignore the "interesting" taste in apperance mods.
