Alright, so I did a lot of driving today and earned to right to put two more silhouettes on my rear window. The first, the Ranger, was a simple race between friends on the way home from school. We started off at a light and I put the car in Sport, but didn't bother to shift since its so sluggish. He reacted faster than me, so he was ahead of me by a nose for 100 feet or so. Then i turn a corner and see that the next light is red and a minivan is stopped in my lane. I'm going 60 at this point, so I slow down to about 40 before the light changes and I duck into my friend's lane. He never really slowed down, so he was still going 60 and I had some work to do. So, I floored it, making sure to tap the automatic kickdown button. The revs surged to 6500 and the car flew forward, hurling me by my friend at 90 (this is on public roads, not an interstate, mind you). After that, it was over. He followed me to my house, and after some handshakes and congratulations, he peeled out and left.
The next race was more interesting. I was in a left-turn lane when I look over and notice a guy in a silver Benz C230 Kompressor just looking at me. So, I shifted into neutral and, while cooly returning his stare through my oakleys, revved the engine to 5000 before putting it back into drive and moving the lever to Sport mode. He responded with an equal rev of his engine. I can hear the turbo and my stomach sinks. I know this guy has me outpowered, So i'll have to come up with a way to block him in traffic. The green arrow comes on and we both roll out and take off down the road. I have slow traffic coming up in my lane, so I punch it and cut him off, passing the slow traffic and then resuming the right lane. We're going about 90 at this time, and he passes me. So, I resume the chase, and eventually he gets momentarily bogged behind a mammoth SUV while I scream by at 110 (my personal speed record).
I know some of you think these aren't two impressive, but I don't think it's too bad for a stock 323Ci.

But kudos to you for utilizing the sports mode in your automatic! Most people feel that if you don't drive a manual, you suck, but some things (like SMG, sports mode, and VW's... whatever it's called) give you more control over your car than other expect from an automatic.

You must feel really cool racing through traffic at 90 mph risking other people's lives. Go to a track or at least use the interstate roads...
I'm going to have to agree with aheath....if you did what you said (which likely is a"fishing story") then you really are an idiot.... People like you should take the bus.
I never said anything about it being through traffic. we were the only two cars on the road for a mile or so, front and back. even so, such speeds are a rarity for me.

you make a good point. I need to sneak out to the freeway sometime and get that speed out so i'm not being an idiot in traffic.
