So today I was driving my car down the road I would least expect to see a deer (broad daylight too!) and I looked down for a split second to fix my AC vent and I look up and my windshield is completely smashed and I'm covered in glass. Hit a deer but I didn't even see the damn thing it happened so fast. I just took full coverage off of my car and I was just in shock. Luckily my mom was following me, and a man saw it and helped out. Shortly after an insurance agent just rolls up and helps out a little bit. Then my sister and her boyfriend see us and her boyfriend helps drive my car home the half mile to my house (he's the only one that drives stick.) The damage was minimum besides the obvious windshield. Side mirror, couple dents, and inside rear view mirror. I guess I couldn't have asked for a better accident, usually deers will do serious body damage but my mom said it was trying to jump so it missed the body of the car. Also I was close to home so I didn't need it towed. Besides having glass all over me and cutting my skin I was fine and ready to go to work in a couple hours.

I hit a family of deer once.... On our way up to michigan. We were racing, and our truck smashed em... they got up and hopped away like nothing happened... but the truck was basically totalled.
Florida requires insurance companies to pay 100% (no deductible) for windshield repairs. I am sure other states have the same policy -- you ought to check to see if it's covered in your state!
