Red does garner more attention. I have gotten more flags for racing in my 318 (red) then in my "sleeper" silver m3. Granted, I can know that those challenging my m3 are either stupid or know their cars. Whereas in the 318, they were just being dumb.
i don't really think the red would make people more interested in racing you. I'm sure it attracts cops much easier, but a race....?
Do you have other mods on your car that would make it seem like you are a sporty driver? Maybe something along the lines of exhaust, lowering springs, wheels, stickers...
I wouldn't have thought so either... but there is a difference in who wants to race me. The people who rape-er, raced me in my 318 were usually other asians or mexicans in toyotas and civics with fart cans (the occasional nissan), or an old guy and his trophy wife in a convertible (sebring?!?).
Now if I get a cue to race, it's almost exclusively limited to german cars and mustangs. And it's always professional looking young males.
Maybe it's a suburbia thing.
Also, something I noticed recently (off-topic), is it just me or are mustangs chick cars? I see a CRUD load of women driving these things.
Its actually a scientific fact that people are attracted to the color red it not only catchs the eye but it also makes people have the need to interact with it. Which is why stop signs are the most vandalized sign.
I'm right there with you 4evr, I can't get hardly anyone to go when I'm in my car. I'm debadged and I have dtm stainless exhaust which is loud (not ricer loud, big block loud . . . I've heard that somewhere before) so I think there also might be that intimidation factor.

Yes, the sound of a raspy 4-cyl is much different than the growl of a 6, or more so the roar of a big block. See, I don't mind that low pitched grumble.
It's like when you shift too soon and you get that grumble rumble from your car, even though it's an I6...
I don't shift too soon very often but sometimes I try to half pedal the clutch and my synchros aren't too happy with me. I was power shifting the other day from a stoplight with my little bro in the car, he was like "tell me again why you need a shortshifter?" W00t!
